A Cheeky Q + A
Hey you beautiful babes,
It's been a while! How have you all been?
I'll explain where I've been and a bit of an update soon, but today I thought I'd finally put up the answers to the questions you gorgeous people asked me while I was away in Wanaka.
Enjoy, and if you have any other questions, please let me know! I seriously love hearing from you!
What camera do you use?
I use a Canon EOS M6. I absolutely love it! I did about 8 months of research before I made the decision to purchase.
What is the app called you use on your stories?
Its an app called unfold, so much fun!
Where is your green fluffy coat from?
Princess Polly! Best purchase of winter
Have you and your family always been into health and fitness?
I really love this question! I would say YES! We are very fortunate to have grown up with very active parents so we live a pretty active lifestyle. We are that family that goes on family walks every morning on holiday, hehe we work for our breakfast! We also eat very well as a family, Mum has always bought very wholesome, nutritious food. We have been allowed in the kitchen from a very young age and I think that’s where my love of cooking came from and cooking with my Ammie.
We have also always skied together as a family and used to do surf lifesaving in summer time, which the whole family was also involved in. Super cool to be able to do it all together, being active is always more fun with others in my opinion. I think my sense of adventure definitely came from doing this sort of thing with family as well. We always used to go on summer adventures and explore.
Favourite food?
Wow that is such a hard one! I loooove avocados!!!
And I love tacos, the soft shell ones! We just had taco medic in Queenstown, that’s my type of food! Fresh, nourishing and colourful!
Summer or winter?
I always find this question so hard! I love skiing and the snow so I love winter in that sense, and layering up in all your warm woolies. But equally I love summer, you cant help but be happy in summer! I love both!
What made you start food blog/youtube channel?
I have answered this in more depth in a question below, but the blog was because I wasn’t do anything for my creative side. And youtube, well I can't tell you exactly but I actually just love capturing moments and having them to look back on, and something was just drawing me to it. My family despair because I have always loved to video things! I just had this feeling like it was something that I really wanted to do, I didn’t want to look back in 5 years and be like why didn’t I just do that. Don’t want to live with regrets.
Do you smoke?
No
Do you like Birkenstock shoes?
Hehe yes I love them! I have two pairs, comfiest shoes ever!
What’s your skincare routine like?
I actually really want to do a video on this soon or a blog! I wanted to at the beginning of the year but my skin decided to go crazy when I got back to Hamilton! I don’t think my skin has ever been as bad as it was then, so I went back to the drawing board and bought all new skincare and products. And I think I’ve nailed it for my skin!
Firstly, your skin is a lot to do with what you put in your body. I try to eat in abundance and eat a nourishing diet. I find drinking lots of water also helps and I swear by and love the beauty chef glow powder. I have 1 tsp in water every morning! (I also really want to try their collagen liquid).
I cleanse every morning and night. And when I wear makeup, I have quite a light foundation.
These are my two products that you seriously need yourself:
· Thalgo collagen moisteriser
· Kiehls daily reviving concentrate oil
Favourite active wear brands?
I work at Lululemon, and I love Lululemon! Before I worked there, my answer still would have been the same! Lulu tights change your life. I also love P.E nation, I think they are so clever with the clothing they bring out. And I’m a sucker for adidas sneakers.
When you drink alcohol what is your drink of choice?
Hehe I actually love the taste of alcohol, and gin is definitely my go to! I love a good gin and tonic, or gin and ginger ale is actually delicious with some lime! I really try to steer away from sugary drinks when I drink, because they make me feel so average the next day and my skin does not agree with it!
If I do drink RTD's though, I really like stills. The blue ones, which is vodka, lime and soda.
Or if I’m feeling wine, I love white wine or recently I have really acquired a taste for a very good central otago pinot noir hehe!
I love your youtube! Were you scared to start it?
Wow, thank you so much! Coolest feedback to hear! I was absoloutely terrified! I was so excited, but definitely extremely nervous. I had a video edited for about 2 months before I finally made it public and even then I didn’t tell people about my first one other than my family and friends. But I just realised that it was something I really wanted to do and I didn’t want to look back in 5 years and have not started it out of fear of what people may think. If people have nothing better to do than to talk about or mock you then that’s their problem, and if they are doing that, they have clearly watched it haha!
When and why did you start the Wholeness Hub?
I started the Wholeness Hub blog at the end of 2016 which was the end of my first year of Uni. I studied health science in my first year of uni and wasn’t doing anything for my creativity. I ended the year in quite a fragile mental state, I decided I needed to do something about that and sought help from a health and happiness coach. She asked me about my goals and what I want I really enjoyed, starting a blog came up. It was something I had thought about doing for about 6 months to a year but I was always too scared and was making excuses why I shouldn’t do it. So I took a big leap and spent about 3 weeks creating my website and wrote my first blog post. It really started as something for me to be creative and write again. It’s definitely come a long way from then.
I started the Instagram back in year 12, which was about 4 and ½ years ago now. I was called @funky.foodie back then haha. No one knew about it, and it was for me to motivate myself and stay accountable. I was really struggling with my weight, eating nourishing food and my confidence. My theory was if I posted what I was eating it would encourage me to eat better. I got such a hard time when people found it back then, no one really had foodie grams, it was very new! My sister and I then joined forces and created @fresh.foooodies! It was such a cool project to do together, we love creating in the kitchen together and it really grew my confidence having someone do it with me. Then in 2017, I continued it just by myself. This was a big turning point I think, I loved sharing what I was making especially flatting and got asked a lot more for recipes. And then half way through the year ‘nourishing nibbles’ was born, one of my coolest projects to date. At the end of 2017 I realised it wasn’t just about food anymore, I opened up more on my blog about my struggles, was a lot more open and honest and had the most incredible response. I also learnt a lot and am still learning on my health journey, that its not just about what you are eating, it is so much more! So early 2018, fresh.foooodies got changed to @the.wholenesshub which is where we are now! It’s actually really cool to have come full circle, I am a lot more confident in me now and am constantly working to create a hub that is a place of empowerment for girls and is a positive space. It's something I wish I could have read, watched or seen 4 years ago when I first started. And while it's really scary to share things sometimes that in the past I have been really private about, I know it helps others because it definitely would have helped me! I really want to empower peple to live a life they love and to be happy! If you're happy, everything just falls into place!
How old are you and where are you based?
I am 20 years old and I’m currently living in Hamilton, New Zealand.
What fake tan do you use?
My life-saver and go to is Bondi Sands! I love fake tan, I am so pale naturally and having a bit of colour makes me feel so much more confident. I am loving the new hour express at the moment, It’s a very natural colour and a better tone for winter I find! Plus it doesn’t smell as strong, doesn't come off on your clothes or sheets, winning!
How many siblings do you have?
I have 3 amazing siblings! Two sisters and a brother. We don’t agree on everything and have our differences but I am so lucky to be realty close with them! Pretty special family, we have a lot of fun together. Very grateful for my family.
Love and Health,
C xo
